Why you should have a YouTube channel – and 3 stats to know

We’ve spent plenty of time talking about the importance of video when it comes to telling your story. You can’t ignore that it is one of the best ways to leave a lasting impression on customers and partners alike.

In fact, our teams are working to incorporate video into our outreach efforts right now. Talk about practicing what you preach! However, once you shoot or produce these clips, what’s next? Sure, you can post them on social media or attach them to email, but there’s one more thing you should be doing: Posting your productions to your own, branded YouTube channel.

Having a dedicated page on this platform opens the digital world up to you even more. Did you know YouTube is the world’s second-most popular social media platform (behind only Facebook.) The bottom line is that a good YouTube page is where potential clients can learn more about you and get a glimpse of what you and your team have to offer.

Here are some other related stats we wanted to share.

  • More than half of YouTube users (54 percent) visit the platform daily, many of whom come back multiple times daily.
  • YouTube is the second-most visited website in the world. (Only behind Google)
  • Only 10% of recent sellers thought their agents used video effectively enough to attract buyer interest.

Setting up your own channel is likely much easier than you think. In fact, all you need is a Gmail account. Use an address associated with your operation. If you have a Google My Business (GMB) account, use that one, and you’re almost ready to go. Pick a name for your channel, upload your headshot or logo and write a short blurb about yourself and your company.

As you get views, subscribers, and comments, remember to stay engaged with your audience. This means responding to questions and feedback. Also, be sure to let your friends and followers know you have a new channel on social media and via email.

There’s a reason so many videos are uploaded to YouTube every day. When you’ve got your channel set up, we’d love to check it out! People like to watch videos on their phones, computers and even smart TVs. If you have something worth watching, people will tune in.
